“The Earth is what we all have in common and when we heal the Earth, we heal ourselves!”
It is well said that Earth is the mother to all the creatures- whether it be the humans or the flora and fauna. Environment constitutes of anything and everything around us, from air to water to the green plants. And this environment is very essential for Humans to survive and live a peaceful life.
With the advancement in technology, there has been huge degradation of Environment by the Humans in many ways. In 2019, a UN based organization warned us that the pace with which our environment is declining, is unprecedented, but it also showed us some hope by saying that we can bring a positive change in this situation if all of us come together to build a sustainable atmosphere for all the living and upcoming generations.
Nature is known to be the most effective and cost efficient solution to most of our daily life problems. It is evident from the fact that nature has the capability of healing a wound to cleaning the air. But the increasing use of available resources has led to loss of more than half of these resources.
UN has been currently working for the environment with a goal to build Sustainable environment. Rotary International, under the leadership of President Holger Knaack has adopted “Supporting The Environment” as it’s seventh area of Focus. And this is the need of the hour. We, as Rotaractors and Rotarians must come together to serve the environment.
As said by Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Gary C.K. Huang, Protecting the environment becomes more important with the global population reaching over eight billion. So we, as a group of problem solvers with diversified talents, must use our collective resources to protect the environment in every possible manner we can.
